Australian footballer Jackson Irvine, who plays for St Pauli in the Bundesliga, spoke to Miriam Walker-Khan on a special episode of the Real Talk Podcast after he made a public statement of support for the trans community following the FA’s ruling to ban transgender women from women’s football.

The FA said they changed their original policy on transgender women participating in the women’s game based on the Supreme Court ruling.

They said: “We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game.”
